朴茨茅斯大学-University of Portsmouth从1869年至今一直作为高等教育中心而存在，由3个主校区组成，设五大学院：商学院、环境学院、人文与社会科学学院、科学以及工程学院。 朴茨茅斯大学另设特殊学科资源中心和两所语言中心。目前，大学有20000多名全日制学生，其中，海外学生占14%左右。 该大学的毕 业生就业率（各专业平均）为74%，比全英大学平均就业率高7%左右。
地理位置
朴茨茅斯是英格兰南部海岸的一座岛屿城市，民风热情友好，是英国享有最佳气候的城市之一，其地理位置也十分理想：乘火车到伦敦只需一个钟头，抵达希思罗及盖提克机场也非常便捷。
大学由3个主校区组成，校区间设有迷你公车服务。主校区就在市中心，离中心商业区、火车站、码头和海边都是几分钟的路程。商学院坐落在米尔顿校区，离市中心2英里。第三个校区在郎斯通海湾，该校区拥有大学的主运动场和一个造型别致的全天候足球场。
课程设置
朴茨茅斯大学现设有170个本科和毕业证课程，以及大量的研究生课程。大学提供包括会计、建筑、艺术和设计、生物、商业学习、计算机、结构管理、工程、语言、医药、政治等专业类别的广泛课程。

The University was delighted to announce in 2007 the appointment of Sheila Hancock OBE as Chancellor. Ms Hancock is a well respected actor and author who has entertained audiences for over 50 years and was born on the Isle of Wight. She received an honorary degree from the University in 2005 in particular recognition of her services to drama.
Among her many achievements are the distinction of becoming the first woman artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and winning Author of the Year in the 2005 British Book Awards for The Two of Us an account of her life with her late husband of 28 years fellow actor John Thaw.
‘I was honoured and delighted to accept the position of Chancellor at the University. I have been deeply impressed by not only the education that students receive but the social and sporting activities that are provided all of which prepare them for a fulfilling life. I relish the opportunity to become involved with all the exciting developments that are happening here.’
