　　I could sense Student A’s excitement and enthusiasm for current events and history from the moment I met her. As we prepped for interviews I would listen in wonder as she shared her thoughts on Eli Weisel’s book Night and articulated its affect on her own understanding of Nazism and World War II. She tied this to her own family history as she described her grandfather’s experience with the Japanese during the Second World War and the interest that this sparked in the Pacific Theater. This interest in the past also ed with her fascination with current events and understanding how history shaped our current understanding. Also this interest served as the focus of her application essays. Throughout the entire application process watching Student A clarify her voice and streamline some of her goals was fun and rewarding to see. It all culminated in her acceptance to her dream school Choate.
